Our Mission

The mission of the Friends of Wildlife at the Lake is to foster positive relationships between Lake of the Woods’ residents and the wildlife that coexist here, to help preserve and protect habitats and species, and to offer assistance to residents and the Association in gaining a deeper understanding of the natural environment in our community.

Objectives

This mission will be accomplished by

• providing education to our group and the LOW community through such activities as guest speakers, articles in Lake Currents and social media, and answering residents’ questions and concerns;

• maintaining an accurate list of available wildlife rehabilitators including which wildlife they support;

• transporting injured wildlife to rehabilitation centers where appropriate;

• serving as a resource to the Lake of the Woods Community and LOW Association regarding wildlife issues and management including advising individual residents regarding specific wildlife concerns;

• consulting with residents to help them resolve issues with wildlife on their property;

• being informed about the laws and best practices that protect wildlife and informing the LOW community thereof.
